Why LinkedIn rejects the file

  1. Design-tool PDFs are heavy. Resumes exported from design apps often contain full-size images and embedded fonts and end up far above 2 MB.
  2. The format isn't accepted. The file must be Microsoft Word or PDF. Images, Pages files or screenshots of a CV fail.
  3. A scanned resume. A scan is a picture of each page, which makes the file large and the text unreadable for applicant systems.

How to make it fit

  1. Drop the resume PDF and read the size check.
  2. Choose "Make it fit" to compress images inside the PDF.
  3. Open the result and check names, links and small print.

Pitfalls

  • Compressing images does not change text, but heavily compressed photos on the CV can look blurry.
  • If you only have a scanned CV, recreate it in a word processor; applicant systems read real text better.

Questions

Is the size a hard limit?

LinkedIn states it as a recommendation; staying under it avoids failed uploads.

Is my resume uploaded to Refentra?
