What this tool changes and preserves

This changes embedded photo data, not automatically the file name, the operating system modification date, or the sorting in your gallery. Location data is not removed this way.

This tool does not remove location data or personal details. Removing them is an explicitly different action: Remove personal metadata

Frequently asked questions

Which metadata can I edit?

Exactly five EXIF fields in one JPEG: ImageDescription, Artist, Copyright, DateTimeOriginal and UserComment. GPS, orientation, camera details, XMP and IPTC are preserved; this is not a privacy cleanup. Date taken uses YYYY:MM:DD HH:MM:SS. Other programs may display unchanged XMP/IPTC values.

Is the image re-compressed?

No. Only the metadata is rewritten; the image pixels are not re-encoded and image quality stays unchanged.

Are the images uploaded?

No. Editing runs locally in your browser, with no upload.
