What cropping changes
The image is turned upright, cropped to exactly the pixels you chose and saved again in sRGB. Metadata such as EXIF orientation, GPS location, IPTC, XMP and ICC color profiles is not copied.
Before the download is offered, the actual file is checked for the right format and dimensions. Your original stays unchanged and never leaves this device.

Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser, so your file never leaves your device.

Does cropping reduce image quality?
Only the pixels outside the selected area are discarded; the kept area is re-encoded with your chosen output settings.
