Why GOV.UK rejects the file

  1. Not enough pixels. The photo must be at least 600 px wide and 750 px tall. A tight crop on a phone can fall below that.
  2. File size outside the range. It must be between 50 KB and 10 MB.
  3. The photo was edited. GOV.UK asks for a photo unaltered by computer software. Filters and retouching cause rejections that no file fix can solve.

How to make it fit

  1. Drop the original photo.
  2. If only the file size is too large, choose "Make it fit". Refentra compresses without changing what the photo shows.
  3. If the pixels are too few, take or crop the photo again with more space around your head. Refentra never enlarges a photo.

Pitfalls

  • Cropping in a messenger or gallery app often lowers the resolution.
  • The page does not name a file format; JPG from your camera is the usual choice.

Questions

Can Refentra enlarge my photo to 750 px?

No. Enlarging adds no real detail and changes the original photo. Use a larger original or take the photo again.

Does this check my background and expression?

No. Those are photo rules; read them on GOV.UK.
