Prepare an animated sticker file for Signal
- Choose an animation
Select one supported GIF, APNG, or animated WebP. The file is read and processed in your browser.
- Select a short excerpt if needed
If the animation is longer than three seconds, enter where the excerpt should start. The tool keeps up to three seconds from that point; it does not choose a segment for you.
- Create and check the APNG
The tool resizes frames proportionally and centers them on a square canvas, trying 512, 384, then 256 px until the animation fits the 300,000-byte limit. It decodes the output again and checks its frames, duration, and actual bytes before offering a download. Import the separate file in Signal Desktop's sticker pack creator and assign it an emoji there.
Frequently asked questions
What does Signal require for animated stickers?
Signal's sticker guidance requires a separate APNG file, limits each sticker to 300 kB and animation length to three seconds, and resizes stickers to 512 × 512 px. This tool checks the APNG, a maximum of 300,000 bytes, and a maximum duration of 3,000 ms. It does not create or upload a sticker pack. See Signal's current sticker requirements for the complete instructions.
Are my files uploaded?
No. File selection, decoding, conversion, and output checks run in your browser. The tool does not send the file to Signal or create a sticker pack.
Will every animation work or become smaller?
No. This tool accepts one GIF, APNG, or animated WebP only when the browser can decode it. Input is limited to 20 MiB, 100 frames, 4,096 px per side, and 16 million source pixels across all frames. Undecodable files, files over those limits, or animations that cannot fit into a 300,000-byte APNG at up to three seconds are rejected; a 30-second processing watchdog can also stop a run. Signal's sticker-pack acceptance is separate, and the output may be larger than its source.

Image too large to upload?
