How resizing works
A portrait and a landscape image get different output dimensions when fitted. For identical width and height, choose an exact canvas with padding or a crop.
Orientation is applied before dimensions. Outputs are encoded as new sRGB raster files, so EXIF, IPTC, XMP, ICC, and orientation metadata are not retained.
PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPEG cannot, so transparent sources require a background choice.
