Binary bytes and text
Exactly 8 binary digits or 2 hex digits per byte; compact or ASCII-whitespace-separated.

Inputs stay in this tab and are not uploaded or saved automatically. Optional aggregate usage counts and coarse processing diagnostics are sent only after consent, without input content or filenames. Clearing or closing loses inputs; save needed outputs first.
Method and limits
Exactly 8 binary digits or 2 hex digits per byte; compact or ASCII-whitespace-separated. UTF-8 or strict 7-bit ASCII. Reject invalid bytes or explicitly replace (ASCII encode ?, decode U+FFFD). UTF-8 replacement reports a lossy decoding run; raw bytes stay downloadable.
UTF-8 files up to 256 KiB; ordinary text up to 100,000 UTF-16 units; decoding of coded bytes up to 256 KiB. Byte codecs up to 16,384 bytes; lists up to 10,000 records each; retained tokens, graphemes, Braille cells and Unicode rows up to 20,000; HTML up to 20,000 allocations or nodes and depth 64. All output files together up to 2 MiB. A worker that can be stopped runs for at most 5 seconds; this is not a guarantee for the whole memory heap.
How to use it
- Choose source and method
Choose text→binary or binary→text, ASCII or UTF-8, and a policy of rejecting or replacing invalid input. Select spaced or compact bytes before you run it.
- Method
Encode A using ASCII: 01000001. Decode those eight bits back to A. In UTF-8, é uses two bytes: 11000011 10101001.
- Inspect details and save originals
Check the decoded text and the byte count before you download. Keep the original backup, especially when a replacement policy changes invalid input.
Method and limits
What does this result mean?
Each binary byte has eight bits. Spaces separate bytes, and compact output joins them. UTF-8 may use several bytes per character.
How do I resolve rejected or missing input?
Strict ASCII rejects é, so choose UTF-8 to keep it. In reverse mode, fix symbols that aren't binary and incomplete groups of bytes instead of assuming they are text.
What are the limits of this tool?
Replacement loses information. This converts bytes and text locally. It doesn't detect an unknown source encoding or encrypt the output.
