Calculations run locally and inputs are not saved automatically. Download an input backup before closing the tab. Input data, formulas and filenames are never sent. Only with your optional consent, Refentra sends aggregate counts of actions and outcomes, without input content.
What are the limits?
Maximum amount 1 trillion units; total 100 trillion cents. Up to 100 rows, 50 people, 20 tiers, 100 depreciation years, 1,200 schedule periods, 61 cash flows. IRR range −99% to 1,000% per interval, numerical candidates only. Rates: up to eight decimals. Backup: 1 MiB. CSV formula-leading text gets an apostrophe. Use decimal points, no thousands separators.
Amounts use two decimals in your stated unit. Exact decimal inputs; cent rounding half away from zero. Table sums balance. Largest fractional remainders receive shared cents; equal remainders use row order. No tax, fees, legal entitlement or current prices are inferred.
Non-monetary values are shown with up to ten significant digits. CAGR, fractional-year inflation and IRR use numerical approximations; IRR candidates are not a symbolic proof. CSV keeps the numeric values before display rounding.
Σ D = Σ A + T; N_j = D_j − P_j; Σ N = 0
Calculate with your own assumptions
- Enter the inputs
Add people in numbered rows, each with a unique name and the amount they already paid. For each item, enter the amount and the weights as 1:1,2:1. Person numbers start at 1, so 1:2,2:1 gives the first person twice the share. Enter decimals with a point and without thousands separators.
- Check a worked example
A paid 55 EUR; B paid 0. Item 20 uses 1:1; item 30 uses 1:1,2:1. The base shares are A=35 and B=15. With a 10% tip, tip=5 and total=55; A owes 38.50 and B owes 16.50. B pays A 16.50 EUR.
- Interpret and save the result
The tip follows each person’s base share. Rounded cents are balanced so they add up to the bill, and ties in the remainder follow the order of the people. Transfers settle what was actually paid, not just equal shares. Save the CSV and an input backup before you close the page.
Method, errors and limits
Can I reopen editable inputs from the CSV?
The CSV is a report of the results, not a backup of your inputs. Download the separate JSON input backup before you close the page, then import it into this same tool to edit your assumptions again. Import accepts files up to 1 MiB and checks that the file belongs to this tool. Inputs are not saved automatically.
Which input mistakes should I check?
Use each person number at most once per item, with at least one positive weight. Paid amounts must either all be zero (0) or add up exactly to the total including tip. A partial payment total is rejected. If you remove a person, recheck the person numbers in your items.
What are this model’s limits?
Up to 50 people and 100 items. If all payments are zero, the tool shows the shares but no settlement of a paid bill. It only suggests transfers: it can't send money or decide who legally owes a charge.
