Calculations run locally and inputs are not saved automatically. Download an input backup before closing the tab. Input data, formulas and filenames are never sent. Only with your optional consent, Refentra sends aggregate counts of actions and outcomes, without input content.
What are the limits?
Maximum amount 1 trillion units; total 100 trillion cents. Up to 100 rows, 50 people, 20 tiers, 100 depreciation years, 1,200 schedule periods, 61 cash flows. IRR range −99% to 1,000% per interval, numerical candidates only. Rates: up to eight decimals. Backup: 1 MiB. CSV formula-leading text gets an apostrophe. Use decimal points, no thousands separators.
Amounts use two decimals in your stated unit. Exact decimal inputs; cent rounding half away from zero. Table sums balance. Largest fractional remainders receive shared cents; equal remainders use row order. No tax, fees, legal entitlement or current prices are inferred.
Non-monetary values are shown with up to ten significant digits. CAGR, fractional-year inflation and IRR use numerical approximations; IRR candidates are not a symbolic proof. CSV keeps the numeric values before display rounding.
d_km = d_mi × 1.609344; V_L = d_km × c_(L/100km) / 100; 1 US gal = 3.785411784 L; 1 imp gal = 4.54609 L; C = V × p
Calculate with your own assumptions
- Enter the inputs
Choose km or miles, L/100 km or US/imperial mpg, and the matching price unit. Enter the number of people, and turn on round trip only if the distance you entered is one way. Enter decimals with a point and without thousands separators.
- Check a worked example
For 100 km, 6.5 L/100 km and 1.6 EUR/L: 100 × 6.5 / 100 = 6.5 L; cost = 10.40 EUR. Split three ways, the shares are 3.47, 3.47 and 3.46 EUR.
- Interpret and save the result
The trip table rounds the shares so that they add up to the total. US gallons and imperial gallons are different sizes, so the units you select are converted before the cost is calculated. Save the CSV for the figures and an input backup if you want to edit them later.
Method, errors and limits
Can I reopen editable inputs from the CSV?
The CSV is a report of the results, not a backup of your inputs. Download the separate JSON input backup before you close the page, then import it into this same tool to edit your assumptions again. Import accepts files up to 1 MiB and checks that the file belongs to this tool. Inputs are not saved automatically.
Which input mistakes should I check?
Use decimal points, such as 6.5. An mpg value must be above zero, and the number of people must be a whole number from 1 to 50. Don't double a distance that already includes the return trip.
What are this model’s limits?
This estimates fuel cost only, from the consumption and price you enter. It doesn't look up routes or prices, and it doesn't include tolls, wear or parking. The currency is just a label, not an exchange-rate conversion.
