Remove audio from video
Mute a video for good by saving a copy of an MP4 or WebM clip with the audio track removed.
- Runs in your browser
- No upload
- Check before download
Files and content stay on this device. Aggregate action counts are sent only with your separate consent. 64 MB, 120 seconds, up to 1920×1080 pixels. WebCodecs support required. Split re-encodes; audio extraction creates PCM WAV; tags are removed. Compression is a bounded attempt, never a guarantee. Compression preserves compatible AAC/MP3 audio packets; other audio requires an available AAC encoder.
Remove audio from video
- Prepare the input
Choose a supported local video and run the remove-audio operation. The output is a separate silent video. Keep the original in case you need its soundtrack later. Browser codec support and the stated limits on file size, time and dimensions apply.
- Try the worked example
For a supported clip with a visible scene and an audible tone, check the scene in the output and confirm the saved file has no audio track. A muted player control alone doesn't show that the audio track was removed.
- Check and save
Reopen the saved video in a player or media inspector and check the whole timeline. Verify the picture as well as the absence of sound. Metadata and container details don't have to match the original. After any change to the input, download the current result again.
Questions
Is this only a playback mute switch?
No. The exported media is checked to be silent. Look at the saved file’s track list. Turning down a player’s volume doesn't test whether the track was removed.
Can I restore the soundtrack from the silent copy?
There is no way to recover the track that was removed. Keep the original video unchanged somewhere else, and don't overwrite it with the silent output.
Why is export unavailable on my device?
This workflow depends on native or WebCodecs support being available. Codecs that aren't supported, protected input or the limits can cause a refusal. No background service or upload is used as a substitute.
