How to use this calculator
- Set inputs and units
Choose box, cube, sphere, cylinder or cone. For round solids, enter the radius rather than the diameter.
- Calculate
Check this worked example: box: 4 m×3 m×2 m → 24 m³; cylinder: r=1 m,h=2 m → 2π m³
- Results
Read the result in cubic units and use the perpendicular height. Surface area and capacity in liters are different quantities.
Questions and limits
Why is cone volume one third of a cylinder?
For the same radius and height, V=πr²h/3. The slant height can't replace the vertical height.
Which input errors should I correct?
Use all dimensions in the selected unit and keep them above zero. Don't mix centimeters and meters within one shape.
What does this calculation leave out?
Ideal solid geometry only. It doesn't account for wall thickness, hollow volume, density, load capacity or construction approval.
