Input content stays in this tab; Refentra does not upload or store it. Optional aggregate action counts are sent only with your usage consent. Clear the workspace when finished.
Supported profile: Intl.Segmenter uses this locale; graphemes, code points and UTF-16 units differ. Sentence counts are linguistic estimates.
Maximum text: 200,000 UTF-16 units; parser limits can be smaller. Worker time limit: 15 seconds (regex 1.5 seconds).
Check the input and the result
- Prepare and choose the operation
Paste prose with its real punctuation, and use the page language for sentence segmentation that follows the locale.
- Check a concrete example
Use this sample and compare the indicated result: One. Two! → sentences=2
- Check the output before you reuse it
Compare the sentence, line and paragraph totals separately. Pressing Enter doesn't necessarily create a sentence in the linguistic sense.
Answers for this task
How are abbreviations treated?
Intl.Segmenter applies locale rules instead of counting every period, but abbreviations and informal punctuation can still be ambiguous.
What should I check if the input fails?
Put back any punctuation that is missing in copied text. Don't turn every line break into a period just to push the count higher.
Where does this tool stop?
Segmentation is not grammar correction or a judgment of how clear a sentence is. Headings, lists and code may not behave like prose.
