Input content stays in this tab; Refentra does not upload or store it. Optional aggregate action counts are sent only with your usage consent. Clear the workspace when finished.
Supported profile: Intl.Segmenter uses this locale; graphemes, code points and UTF-16 units differ. Sentence counts are linguistic estimates.
Maximum text: 200,000 UTF-16 units; parser limits can be smaller. Worker time limit: 15 seconds (regex 1.5 seconds).
Check the input and the result
- Prepare and choose the operation
Paste text and choose the count that matters for where it is going: visible graphemes, code points, UTF-16 units or UTF-8 bytes.
- Check a concrete example
Use this sample and compare the indicated result: 👨👩👧👦 → graphemes=1; codePoints=7; utf16Units=11; utf8Bytes=25
- Check the output before you reuse it
Check spaces and line endings too. A single emoji that looks like one character may use several storage or API length units.
Answers for this task
Which character count should I use?
Follow the unit that the receiving system documents. JavaScript length counts UTF-16 units, while UTF-8 byte limits are different.
What should I check if the input fails?
Unexpected totals often come from combining marks, invisible spaces or copied line breaks. Look at the original text before you delete any characters.
Where does this tool stop?
The counts don't reproduce every social platform’s weighted limits for URLs and emoji. Input is limited to 200,000 UTF-16 units.
