Image upload size limits by platform
Quick answer: most upload errors come from one of three different limits — file size (KB/MB), pixel count (width × height or megapixels) or file format. The table below lists what each platform's own help pages say, whether it is a hard limit or only a recommendation, and when we last checked the source. Each row links to a fix that runs in your browser; your photo is not uploaded to Refentra.

Which of the three limits are you hitting?
- File size (KB or MB): the amount of data. Lower it with the target-size compressor — it searches for the best quality that stays under the number you enter. Refentra counts 1 MB as 1,000,000 bytes, so aim a little below the limit (for example 4,900 KB for a 5 MB limit).
- Pixels or megapixels: width × height. Megapixels = width × height ÷ 1,000,000; a 6000 × 4000 px camera photo is 24 MP. Compression does not change this — use resize image dimensions or batch resize.
- Format: for example HEIC from an iPhone or WebP from a website. Convert with HEIC to JPG or WebP to JPG.
