How to use this calculator
- Set inputs and units
Choose add, multiply, transpose or determinant. Enter rows on separate lines, with the cells separated by spaces.
- Calculate
Check this worked example: A=[1 2;3 4], B=[5 6;7 8] → A×B=[19 22;43 50]
- Results
Read multiplication as row-by-column dot products. A×B is generally different from B×A.
Questions and limits
Which dimensions must match?
Addition needs equal shapes, and multiplication needs columns(A)=rows(B). Transpose uses only A, and the determinant needs a square A.
Which input errors should I correct?
Use a rectangular grid with at most 6 rows and 6 columns. Remove empty cells, units and rows of unequal length.
What does this calculation leave out?
Numeric matrix operations only. No inverse, eigenvectors, symbolic entries or solutions of general linear systems.
