Blur and pixelation are visual effects, not secure removal of sensitive information. Use opaque cover for privacy.

Only the specified rectangles are redacted; faces, objects and text are not detected automatically. Other files and separate previews remain unchanged. Output is PNG only with verified opaque black pixels; source metadata is not carried over. Inspect the result before sharing: any area you missed remains visible.

Burn black boxes into an image

  1. Choose a static image

Select one JPEG, PNG or WebP. Check the original and identify every sensitive area yourself.

  2. Define rectangles

Enter up to 20 pixel-coordinate rectangles. The preview shows the areas to cover; this is not automatic face or text detection.

  3. Verify and download

The tool re-encodes the image and verifies that every chosen output pixel is opaque black. Keep the original separately.

Frequently asked questions

Can the covered pixels be recovered from the download?

The exported image replaces selected pixels with opaque black and removes ordinary source metadata during re-encoding. Your original file remains unchanged; areas you did not select remain visible.

Why is the output PNG only?

Lossy JPG or WebP can introduce source-colored pixels along the edge of a black rectangle. PNG lets the tool verify every chosen pixel exactly.

Is my original changed?

No. The browser makes a separate output file; your selected original remains unchanged.
